Opportunities for Students

A Hands-On Way to Build a Career

Once accepted into our program, interns are placed on a specific project team and work closely with our highly-trained senior staff members. Interns can expect to be involved in a range of project-specific activities, including project progress meetings, RFI’s, document reviews, subcontractor coordination, quality control, and estimating.

Project Engineer

Project engineers provide critical support on-site to the field team throughout the course of the project and they’re responsible for documentation and tracking of submittals, drawings, and requests for information; quality control documentation; progress reporting; and safety oversight.

Project Manager

Project managers lead the construction of the project from start to finish, responsible for project planning, budgeting, staffing, and coordination of all parties involved in the project including the client, architect, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and labor.

Estimator

Estimators develop cost estimates for multi-million-dollar projects which includes defining project scope, preparing bid documents, managing subcontractor bids and relationships, and value engineering.

FAQs

Any student enrolled in a 2-year, 4-year, or advanced degree college program can apply. We are especially seeking students studying construction management, civil engineering, business management, or a similar field.

Generally, Brown internships are not duration-driven and have no official start and end times.

Yes! All Brown Construction internships are paid.

Brown provides a hands-on learning experience working alongside experienced professionals to gain practical skills in various construction roles. Internships provide opportunities to connect with industry professionals and build relationships as well as develop key skills like communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management.

Absolutely! Brown Construction is proud that over 80% of interns become full-time hires in various roles upon graduation.

We respect that your internship comes second to your academic commitments, so we will work with you to determine the appropriate work days and hours that fit with your school schedule.  In general, interns are scheduled during the Monday-Friday workweek between 8 am and 5 pm.

Interns can work on project sites and in our main office in West Sacramento. If you’re assigned to a project site, we try to accommodate a location close to your home or school.
