PROJECT DESCRIPTION
- Project address: 2300 Ellsworth Street, Berkeley, CA 94704
- General contractor: Brown Construction, Inc.
This project involves the demolition of three vacant buildings while preserving and restoring the existing facades of the buildings at the southwest corner of Bancroft Way and Ellsworth Street; followed by the construction of a 7-story student housing building with 69 units and 283 beds. The project will also include new sidewalks on Bancroft Way and Ellsworth Street. Located in the heart of Berkeley, this project is designed to address the growing demand for student housing while enhancing the surrounding neighborhood with upgraded landscaping and pedestrian improvements. MAJOR PHASES OF CONSTRUCTION
- Demolition of existing structures and hardscape
- Excavation and grading for foundation preparation
- Installation of underground utilities
- Concrete foundation and podiums pouring
- Framing and finishes: Five stories of vertical framing, exterior and interior finishes
- Final site improvements, including landscaping and sidewalks
ANTICIPATED GENERAL TIMELINE
- Demolition, Grading & Utilities August – November 2025
- Concrete Construction October 2025 – April 2026
- Framing March – June 2026
- Façade and Interior Finishes June 2026 – March 2027
- Landscaping & Site Improvements October 2026 – February 2027
- Expected Project Completion: Q1 2027
DAILY WORK HOURS
- Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Saturdays* (as needed): 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- No work will be performed on Sundays or City holidays.
